Sheriff Jack Campbell is a Snake!
Sheriff Jack Campbell and anyone else involved in the hiring of former deputy Sean Grayson should immediately resign or be removed!
Sean Grayson should have never been hired. He worked at five different agencies in four years, and all of his former employers stated that he was too inexperienced or needed more training. Another red flag was the psycholocigal report that stated Grayson had “low cognitive ability.” How did Campbell fail to see these obvious bad signs? Why didn't any of this deter Campbell from hiring Grayson? I have a guess, but only a guess. Scott Butterfield, a former Sangamon County deputy and the father of Grayson's fiance, was suspiciously the top reference on Grayson's job application. Additionally, in 2015, Laura Campbell - Jack Campbell's wife - was suspended from IDOT because she knowingly conducted a Rutan interview to hire their neighbor, who was a donor to Campbell's sheriff campaign. Do hiring improprieties run in the family?
Campbell also ignored the concerns of Sangamon County citizens by obtaining an MRAP armoured vehichle, which he has used to intimidate peaceful protesters on multiple occasions.
Campbell has refused to enforce an Illinois law that bans assault weapons and large capacity magazines.
Under Campbell's tenure as sheriff, Jamieson Cody was murdered in Sangamon County Jail. The coroner declared his death a homicide and said Cody died from asphyxiation. Campbell's employees had detained and restrained Cody in a way that caused Cody's asphyxiation. After Cody's death, Campbell stated, “Our officers used the methods and techniques that they learned through their training.” Strange how often the blue line mentions training or the need for training. It's almost like it's an unspoken code for “bad cops.”
Last but definitely most importantly, Jack Campbell and Sean Grayson are equally just as responsible for the death of Sonya Massey. Jack Campbell should immediately resign!
